The meeting was called to order by President, David Perez at 7:00 PM. Pastor Ron led with a prayer.

Members present:  Pastor Ron, David Perez, Iris Atkins, Dawn Andrews, Georgene Nightingale, Benjamin Ibarra,  Alicia Saenz,  Mike Collins.

Members not present: Bob Lechner, Nan Stufkosky, Paul Ford.

Non-members Present:  Laura Ortiz, treasurer.

A motion was made to approve the minutes for the August meeting , seconded and passed by all except Georgene.

Treasurer’s Report: An observation was made by Pastor Ron, he thinks that some items in the report need to be reviewed.

Council formed a committee to help with the audit of the church financial books for the years of 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013. The committee consists of Barbara Atwood, Jim Biddle, Gertrude Scott, Chris Lewis, and Jim Cartwright.

Last Year St. Mark’s received a gift from the Kaho Chester Trust. The gift came with no stipulations about how the funds should be distributed. However, St. Mark’s received a letter from the Kaho Chester Trust attorney about the distribution of the funds.  Attorney Michael Green will review the documentation that originally came with the gift.  A motion was made to approve the report and seconded.  Passed by all.

Cell Tower Project: Waiting for some final advice. Planning on having a report available for October Council Meeting.

A new MOU Form was presented to be reviewed by council.

The Al-Anon MOU draft was presented for review and make suggestions for changes.

A Reminder that Glory Lutheran’s 2015 rental rate needs to be established by the end of this October, per their new signed paperwork.

Background checks: Both Brett and Pastor Ron are working on it. It is a complicated process. Forms have to be filed with different government and city agencies.

Hilltop High School Volunteers: Established a trial relationship with a program for developmentally disabled students that teaches teens functional skills.  A group of five students and two adult teachers will be cleaning our worship space once a week.  They are insured through the school district and have provided proof.  They have also signed our Hold Harmless and Request Forms.

Pastor Report: Pastor Ron reported about the health of Pastor John Sieber.

Motion by Georgene and seconded by Dawn for Alicia to start turning in miles for reimbursement since Pastor John is not using his miles. Motion passed by all.

The Council Meeting was closed with the Lord’s Prayer at 8:49 pm
