Meeting called to order at 7:10 P.M. by President Nancy Dreesen.
Members present: Nancy Dreesen, Raidel Cubero, Billy Cox, Barb Atwood, Pastor Alicia Saenz, and Sherri Coughlin.
Pastor Alicia opened the meeting with prayer.
Action Items
Motion was made (Billy C.) to accept the Minutes of the September, 11, 2018 Council Meeting, seconded (Barb A.) , and unanimously approved.
Motion was made (Billy C.) to accept the Minutes from the Sept. 17th Congregational Meeting, seconded (Barb A.), and unanimously approved.
Treasurer, Barb Atwood, distributed and presented the Financial Report for September:
She reviewed changes to the report with Council.
The Balance sheet reflects a Negative $86.00 in fund 31160, Neighbor Relief
fund. She will offset by a transfer from Fund 31170, Honoring and
Remembrance.
Discussion was held on ways to lock up Hearing Aids and other items/equipment.
Other groups renting our facilities are using our equipment and not being held
responsible for damage.
Motion was made (Barb A.) that we get programmable locks for the Sacristy and Room 2 (Music Room), seconded (Raidel C.) and unanimously approved.
Fund 10205 (Chase Bank Scrip) was closed and funds were rolled into 10200
(Union Bank).
Fund 40501 (Thrivent Choice) will have $1,122.00 transferred to the Endowment
Fund in October.
Barb recommended transferring funds from Checking to Money Market Account.
Motion (Barb A.) to move funds from checking to Money Market, leaving $75,000.00 in Checking, seconded (Raidel C.) and unanimously approved.
Motion was made (Nancy D.) to add Sherri C. to Bank Account, seconded (Raidel C.), and unanimously approved.
Motion was made (Nancy D.) to accept the September, 2018 Financial Report, seconded (Raidel C.), and unanimously approved.
Council reviewed the second page of the Facilities Use Guidelines & Policies.
Motion was made (Billy C.) to approve the Facilities Use Guidelines & Policies, as presented, seconded (Barb A.), and unanimously approved.
Other Reports
Nancy shared a request that was received from the Chula Vista Art Guild to use Jacobsen Hall one Saturday a month for their meeting. After discussion, Council agreed that we could offer the Youth Room for their meetings, but not Jacobson Hall, unless they are able to pay the newly established fees for the Hall.
Another group, Champion Youth, also inquired about renting space for a weekly youth program. Esmerelda will send them our fee schedule.
Nancy advised that 5 Minute Stewardship Talks will take place at Worship Services on October 28, and November 4. Pledge Sunday will be November 11th.
Other Items
Discussion was held on Room Capacity for Jacobsen Hall, and specifically for Banquet Seating. Capacity signs for Jacobsen Hall are missing. Discussion was also held on purchasing new tables and chairs for the Hall.
Pastor Alicia closed the meeting with the Lord’s Prayer.
