The meeting was called to order by President David Perez at 7:00 PM, Pastor Ron led with a prayer.
Minutes for the June meeting were approved with corrections.
Treasurer’s Report: Laura Ortiz gave the treasurer’s report. It was noted that collection plate donations were behind last years numbers. Pastor also noted that expenses were also dropping. Approved by all
Cell Tower: David Perez gave an update to the Cell Tower proposal. Jim Cartwright and Chris Lewis reviewed the proposal and had some questions about discrepancies between the proposal and the original contract. They suggested we send the proposal to an attorney for an in-depth study. They suggested the council set aside $1,000 for attorney fees. Motion made, approved by all.
Georgene Nightingale asked that previous council minutes be posted to the website. Bob Lechner has taken for action.
Sustainable Finances: Bob Lechner spoke about discussions he had with church members after a church service. Members were curious about the memorial garden idea, asking questions about where it would be, how much it would cost, etc. Members were in favor of having some sort of name of the deceased out in the garden. Bob Lechner suggested a tile could be painted by the family and fired at a ceramics store and placed in the garden. Members also asked about the daycare center. Bob told them that council was looking into leasing out some buildings to St Paul’s church which is currently running a daycare on “L” street. They were all good with that idea.
It was decided that David Perez would ask Brett to contact the former president of the endowment committee about documents.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:30
