Council President Sheri Barker called on Pastor Ron for prayer.  The meeting was convened at 7:00 p.m.

Approval of Minutes: Minutes of the December 19, 2012 meeting were approved as amended. 

FINANICAL AND BUDGET REPORTS

Treasurer Diane Wages noted that slight adjustments may need to be made to the final numbers and the bank statement needs to be reconciled before the annual meeting.  She commented on the amazing turnaround compared to the previous year.  Total income was up 9% compared to 2011.  Expenses are down approximately 30% compared to 2011.  She reviewed the designated funds and noted that there is approximately three months expenses in the reserve account based on 2012 expenses.

 

OLD BUSINESS

Confirm final 2013 budget in preparation for congregational meeting – Brett reported that the congregational informational budget meeting had gone very well.  The comments made at last year’s annual meeting have been addressed and he thought the congregation appreciated Council’s efforts.

 

Estimate for street signs – Sheri continues to work with the contractor and is expecting a second estimate.  The item was tabled for the February meeting.

 

Final allocation of Chester Estate – A lengthy discussion took place regarding the final allocation of the Chester Estate.   Motion by Pastor Ron, seconded by David:  To approve the distribution of the Chester Estate funds as follows:  $7,500 – Benevolence; $20,000 – Spanish language ministry; $33,000 – Stucco outbuildings; $4,000 – Street signs; and $10,500 – Renovation of the interior of Jacobson Hall.  Approved unanimously.

 

Prep for Annual Congregational Meeting –   The usual agenda will include an update on the church year and the strategic plan.  Brett continues to work with potential Council nominees.

 

NEW BUSINESS

Boy Scouts – David reported that the Scouts made $1,700 selling popcorn.  Their meeting date has changed to Mondays, and they have several events and outings planned.

 

EXECUTIVE SESSION

Council was in Executive Session from 8:50 – 9:25 p.m.

 

PASTOR REPORT

Pastor Ron reported that he has been filling in for Pastor John who has been ill and that Melody has also been out sick which has delayed some preparations for the annual meeting.

 

DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS REPORT

Brett has been working on the annual meeting as well as recruiting someone to help count the money and someone to fill the position of secretary for Council meetings.

 

The meeting adjourned at 9:40 p.m. and closed with the Lord’s Prayer.
