Minutes were accepted with one change: Pastor Ron and David Perez were present at March Council meeting. Brett had improperly transcribed his notes.
Remy Bollong presented his idea for a project as he pursues Eagle Scout status. It was decided that he would replace the benches in the recessed area between sanctuary and Jacobson Hall. They were rotting and also had to be removed for stucco project. Remy will present detailed plans for benches to George Stallard.
George Stallard, Head of Property Committee, made presentation regarding the additional stuccoing of retaining walls on lower portion of campus. The bid received called for $3900. George thought his committee could remediate walls with extra cleaning and paint and Council agreed. Also, the committee will be replacing small flower beds on ark$6000 would be needed to replace fascia on out buildings. Council will discuss at next meeting.
Kerri Wood gave Treasurer’s report. Revenue/offering is lagging behind last year’s pace while expenses are slightly below budget. Current budget bottom line is negative $7,840.
Pastor Ron reported that Alicia has received initial Synodical approval for candidacy toward ordination. This is the first official step toward achieving status as Pastor. Will now start TEAM program.
There is still a need for additional Council members and a Secretary. Current members encouraged to continue seeking candidates.
Pastor Ron will be on vacation from May8-13. He is also being considered for a position on the Board of Lutheran Social Services.
Brett offered idea for back-up process regarding “money counters”. There has been difficulty finding replacement volunteers for this job and contingency plan is needed. Council agreed to idea that job could be split into two elements: counting/deposit and computer input. Brett will also begin Spanish asst. hiring process.
Lee brought up two ideas. Regarding signage on corner of Hilltop & “I” it was suggested that instead of replacing sign on ground we could use lighted lettering on wall/overhang. Second idea was that of using a golf cart to transport physically disadvantaged from car to sanctuary. Both items tabled for further discussion at next Council meeting.
