Please join us for our first organ concert of our 2022 -2023 Concert Series with Guest Organist Jason Chase. Though this is a free concert for all attending, there will be a free-will offering taken for those who would to make a donation.
This will be a lecture concert where Jason will be sharing before he performs each piece the unique qualities of the instrument as well as the inspirations for his arrangements of pieces from Bach’s Prelude in C minor to The Phantom of the Opera. This is a wonderful way to hear in real-time notes about each piece performed that you would never hear or learn about in a usual concert performance.
Now A Bit About our Soloist.
Jason grew up as a Baptist revival pianist and at the age of 13 was touring the east coast with Billy Graham. Jason’s improvisation skills were used extensively and ability to play by ear as well as read music set him apart on tour. His father bought him his first Hammond Drawbar organ when he was 14 and there began his love for the sounds and versatility of the organ. Jason began his own touring company at 16 years old and often would use the organ for productions. In college, he studied organ with Dr. Beverly Boland and while touring in Europe, he studied with Dr. Wolfgang Bock and Greta Leviste -Trumb with the Munich Opera.
Along with his passion and love for liturgical music, Jason has also worked internationally as a Conductor & Musical Director for over 50 musicals and operas. His Broadway and touring credits include Phantom of the Opera, Saturday Night Fever, The King & I – starring Stephanie Powers; Jesus Christ Superstar – starring Ted Neeley. Jason also served as AMD for over 300 performances of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat – starring Patrick Cassidy & American Idol’s Amy Adams.
He also was honored to be chosen to serve 2 years as choral director and arranger for the national tour of The Colors of Christmas, starring Peabo Bryson, James Ingram, En Vogue, John Secada, Oleda Adams, Jody Watley and Marilyn McCoo. Pairing his love of theatre with vocal health has allowed Jason the opportunities to become a vocal coach & accompanist for the Metropolitan Opera’s Young Artist Apprenticeship program, as well as the Chicago Lyric Opera’s Accompanist Apprentice program. He was also the Musical Director on the original artistic staff for Bravo Television’s “On with the Show”.
